Republican Congressman in the United States proposes Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Institute has announced that the number of Nobel Peace Prize nominations for 2025 has reached 338, of which 244 are individuals and 94 are organisations. Republican Congressman Darell Issa has proposed President Trump to win this award. He declared through a post on the X platform that “nobody deserves the price more than American President”.
The Congressman's office has clarified that Trump's candidacy has been proposed because of his efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian media report MP Oleksandr Meresko has submitted the proposal for Trump since November last year, in an effort to draw the attention of former US president after his successes in the US elections.
Besides Trump, a number of other prominent figures have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Norwegian MPs have nominated former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and Pope Francis, according to international media.
Last year, this prestigious award was awarded to the Japanese organisation Nihon Hidankyo, which represents survivors of nuclear attacks in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
