According to KDI, this move undermines the principle of rule of law and equality before him, creating the impression that high officials can avoid legal obligations.
The organisation stresses that the prime minister's insistence that his testimony be carried out in his office and not in the Prosecutor's Office presents dangerous precedents and conflicts with the legal provisions in force.
The rule of law implies that no one, regardless of position or function, enjoys special treatment in the face of justice institutions. If the head of the government could avoid Prosecution calls, then the move could legitimise such a practice for other public officials or ordinary citizens,”, the KDI response said.
The institute stresses that in a functional democracy, institutional leaders should set the best example in law enforcement.
They call on Prime Minister Kurti to appear unconditionally in the Special Prosecution, praising that this move would strengthen public confidence in institutions and show that no one is above the law.
