After 406 matches and over ten years with FC Basel, Taulant Jaka (33) is retiring from football. In an exciting video on FCB social channels, he announced his retirement.
“The FCB and the city mean everything to me like a basselyan. I was born and grew up here. Playing for this team has always been a dream to me.
For the brother of Swiss National Captain Granit Jaka, this is the perfect moment to resign: my “Nomer has always been 34 and in March I will be 34 years old. It seems fair, because the club is in very good shape and we're on our way to success”
It has always been important to him that he could decide for himself when he retired from football. So he asked the club to terminate the contract that was valid until 2027 and to close it as early as the summer of this year.
«Always in my heart»
Jaka expressed thanks to FCB fans, saying: «I want to thank you all. Even in hard times, you've always stood behind me. You will always remain in my heart. »
At the end of the video, he concluded with a powerful message: «but now it's not summer. Let's give everything together. We on the field, you on the stairs. All together. »
Debt 15 Years ago
Taulant Jaka spent all his youth at Basel and made his debut for the first team at the Swiss Cup in the summer of 2010.
In February 2011, he also debuted in the Swiss Superliga to Louzer. From 2012 to 2013, he was loaned for a year to GC, while the rest of his career was spent with FCB. With Basel's team, he won six times the Swiss champion title.
Despite passing through Switzerland's new teams, Taulanti decided to play for the Albanian National, unlike his brother. He played 30 matches, and in Euro 2016 he faced Switzerland and his brother Granit.
