Report published: VV with most candidates having problems with the law, PDK none

Kosovo's Institute for Justice (IKD), Movement FOL and Progress Initiative (INPO) have released the candidate integrity report “, rule of law and good governance” on Thursday.

On the eve of the February 9th parliamentary elections, data on candidates who have problems with the law has been published in this report, as well as an assessment of subject programmes, with phcus in rule of law.

According to the report, it notes that the Vetevendosje Movement has mostly candidates for MPs who have problems with the law, a total of 14 of them.

The AAK-Nisma coalition has eight candidates with problems with law, LDK one, while PDK-zero.

“As for candidate lists, which have problems with the law, in the sense of active charges and sentences, three political subjects -- 1) Vetevendosje Movement 2) the AAK-Nisma coalition; and 3) the Democratic League of Kosovo -- have included on their lists 23 candidates having problems with the law, making up about 7% of their total candidates. The Vetevendosje movement has the largest number of 14 candidates (12.72% of the list), while the AAK-Nisma coalition has included eight candidates (7.27%), and the LDK a candidate.

Of the 23 candidates for MPs with legal problems, 16 of them face active charges, while eight have firm form sentences. In all, 20 counts have been filed against these candidates for 21 criminal acts, involving criminal acts of corruption such as “the misuse of official position or authority”, as well as other criminal acts, such as the use of weapons or dangerous means (nine cases), the unauthorised possession of weapons (five cases), the obstruction or assault on official persons, and other acts of criminal nature” ) It says in the report.
