The Russian top diplomat's response comes after US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that after a peace deal, a form of peacekeeping “ ” in Ukraine could be necessary. On Monday, Trump said Moscow was open to the admission of European peacekeepers, but the declaration was excluded from the Russian top diplomat, Euronews.
Lavrov ruled out any possibility of freezing the conflict on the current front line, underlining that Russian forces will continue fighting until they take control of the four Ukrainian regions Moscow has declared as part of it.
“Some suggest leaving the front line where it is located, dividing areas in Russian and Ukrainian. That's not gonna happen. We have a constitution based on the will of the people,” said Lavrov.
Moscow considers Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizian to be Russian territories, despite lack of full control.
