US President Donald Trump said he ordered military air strikes on a Islamic State group (IS) in Somalia, which according to the BBC were planning attacks.

In an X post, the Somalia president's office said they were informed of the American attack targeting the top IS leadership in the northern part of the country. Trump did not mention any of the people targeted in the attacks.
The president finished posting with: “Message for I The SIS and all the others that would attack Americans is that “We'll find you, and we'll kill you! ”
In an X post, Somalia's president's office, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, said he accepts the United States' firm support in the fight against international terrorism and welcomes continued commitment under President Donald Trump”'s decisive leadership. The post also said the latest operation “reinforces strong security partnership between Somalia and the United States in combating extremist threats”.
In a statement, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said our initial “assessment is that many operators were killed in air strikes, and no civilian was damaged”. Hegseth said the attacks “further degrading” the ability of the IS “to plot and conduct terrorist attacks” and “send a clear signal that the United States is always ready to locate and eliminate terrorists”.
He said the attacks were carried out in the Golis Mountains, in northern Somalia. The government of Pontland, a region of northeastern Somalia, thanked <x0) international enemies who participated in the air strikes that “killed high-ranking members” of the IS.
The IS was established in international importance in the 2010s, especially in Syria and Iraq, but now its presence is mainly limited to parts of Africa. The Somali branch of the IS was formed in 2015 by a group of defectors from the al-Shabab group linked to Al-Qaeda, the largest jihadist group in Somalia.
