Hovenier mentions Kosovo: USAID disseminatement increases risk to vulnerable world populations

Former US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier has said that efforts by the Trump Administration to break up the American Agency for International Development (USAID) undermines US strategic interests, undermines international position, increases the risk for the most vulnerable populations of the world, and unjustly harms faithful and non-party public servants. Houvenier also mentioned USAID's investments in Kosovo, where he was ambassador until a few weeks ago. Havenier said U. US has contributed to advancing security and stability in former war-torn regions like Kosovo.
I should know until six weeks ago, I was the US ambassador to Kosovo a country with a big USAID mission. Our U colleaguesAID was an integral and essential part of the country's “Ekip” interinstitative that I directed, supporting our strategic efforts to promote stability and prosperity in an uncertain corner of Europe, Reporter broadcast.
“U nAID is a valuable tool of American foreign policy. With less than 1% of the federal budget, the work of our U colleaguesAID is a market for America. Investment returns is big with such successes as: Partnership with our army to fight I SIS in Syria, containing developing health threats like Ebola on a global scale, reducing illegal immigration by improving conditions in other countries, competing with China for economic impact. Advancing security and stability in former war-destructed regions such as Kosovo” has said Hovier in an opinion published in Bellingham Herald.
Havenier has further argued that eliminating U programmes and staffAID is a gift to America's competitors.
“The reduction or elimination of U.S. software and staffAID is a gift to our competitors. China's development investments worldwide have increased by 5.5% over the past 15 years; attracting US development programmes and staff reduces our impact and ability to effectively respond to developments in key strategic regions. Administration Trump's surprise decision to withdraw almost all U's labour force USAID abroad unjustly punishes dedicated public officials who faithfully implement US policies and programmes approved by Congress, often working in high-risk environments worldwide at great personal risk. USAID employees are patriots applying the policy of the president and his national security team. They work for every president regardless of party or political affiliation. This reckless decision is creating chaos, is sowing fear and is ruining a lot of life and career, and is negatively affecting the family”, Hovenir said.
He further says this Trump Administration effort to break up U n US is of no benefit to any party and is at the expense of all Americans.
Also, the cost for American taxpayers for this sudden and disorganized departure is not insignificant: a very low cost assessment for the repatriation of 1400 U.S. officers US and their families are $20m. As a recent statement from a two-party group of five former USAID administrators who headed the agency under the Democrat and Republican presidents: “weakened and even destroyed the agency does not benefit any political parties and harm all Americans. ... while we disagree on all issues, we wholeheartedly agree that USAID and foreign aid programmes are vital to our interests, that U's men and women's careers. AID has served each of us well and it's a duty of administration and Congress to quickly defend the agency's constitutional role.” This Trump Administration's attempt to dismantle USAID harms US priority interests, denies lifesaving aid and mistreats faithful US public servants”, Havenier has said.
