“Forgetted Kosovo, honoured Dodik” DUI with criticism of government after failing to wish 17th anniversary of independence

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) has criticised the government of Northern Macedonia, as it did not congratulate Kosovo on the occasion of marking the 17th anniversary of independence, calling it a diplomatic concession. DUI stressed that while Milorad Dodik was received with state honours, there was no wish for Kosovo, sending a bad message for relations with the neighbouring state.
“Forgett Kosovo, honoured Dodik who is the Government's message? With deep regret and concern, we find an unacceptable move that took place this year ʹ for the first time, state institutions, including President, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, did not send an official public wish for the Independence Day of the Republic of Kosovo”.
According to DUI, the move hurts good neighbourlyity and could negatively affect relations with Kosovo and the European perspective of Northern Macedonia.
“The move is not only a diplomatic release, but also a direct signal that undermines the spirit of good neighbourlyness and regional co-operation. At the same time, with all state honours, a political figure known for its destructive attitudes towards Euro-Atlantic processes and principles of regional stability was hosted in our country, Klankosova broadcasts.tv.
This clear contradiction in dealing with neighbouring states sends a disturbing message to direct our state policy. Such behaviour is the result of the growing influence of the concept of the Serbian “Bota” in northern Macedonia ʹ a project posing a threat to sovereignty, European perspective and strategic interests of the state”.
“Promoting this ideology at the expense of friendly relations with Kosovo is unacceptable and harmful”.
