Foreign Minister Igli Hasani has welcomed with a meeting Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset, with whom he has talked about Albania's integration, strengthening democracy, rule of law, support of Ukraine and Kosovo membership in the KiE.
In terms of the latter, Hasani has underlined that membership should happen as soon as possible, while guaranteeing Albania's support in the process.
“Happy to welcome the Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset, a particularly symbolic visit today as 2025 corresponds to Albania's 30th anniversary of membership in the Council of Europe.
Albania's progress in strengthening democracy, rule of law and human rights was praised during the meeting, as well as its active role in international organisations and its support for Ukraine.
I also found the case to underline Beset that Kosovo's most well-deserved membership in the Council of Europe should happen as soon as possible. Albania stands firm in its support, viewing it as a key point for regional stability and promoting democracy and human rights”, Hasani said.
