In the course of four years of governance, the political party Vetevendosje and its leader, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, have intensified unacceptable attacks on media and journalists throughout the month of the election campaign for the February 9th national elections.
In an interview for local television, Prime Minister Kurti has said that <x0portals are part of the Bermuda Triangle that want to sink Kosovo”.
In almost all election gatherings in various cities, Kurti has used denigrative and offensive languages against media, journalists and commentators of television debates.
Teams of journalists, including those of the Kosova and National Clan, have been hampered by Vetevendosje officials at several electoral gatherings, in an effort to prevent the ground reporting.
The AGK considers such attacks unacceptable pressure on the media to do their job, in an important phase such as this of the election campaign.
The ruling party's stimulating language significantly challenges the possibility of reporting. Vetevendosje's player towards 3 national televisions also has an impact on providing transparency and is avoiding accountability to an important part of the public.
The media have legal and public obligations that, in election times, offer to their viewers the promises and programmes of all political parties equally.
