According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), this makes products a possible <x1 health risk>” for anyone with allergies or intolerance to:
milk
Nuts
soyce
wheat/gluten
The recovery includes all expiration dates for these chocolates.
Nut - related Allergies can be fatal, causing anaphylax, a reaction where the over-reacted immune system releases chemicals that can cause shock and respiratory bans, with serious consequences for the brain and vital organs.
Consumers who have bought these chocolates and have allergies or intolerance to the components mentioned should not consume. The store has also placed announcements at the selling points to clarify the reason for the return.
According to the official announcement:
“TJ Morris Ltd is attracting Milka Hazelnut 90g, Milka Wolke Nut5g and Milka Oreo Brownie 100g sold to Home Barganins shops, since the silver women are not declared English. This poses a potential danger to anyone with allergies or intolerance to the nuts, milk, soybeans, or wheat. ”
The store apologises for the inconvenience, but it is not yet clear whether it will offer remuneration for the affected chocolates.
Symptoms of milk and soybeans may include:
Pussing, scratching, and swelling
vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea
In the worst of cases, anaphylax
In 2023, Hannah Jacobs, 13-year-old from Barking, East London, died after consuming a chocolate made by mistake with milk, pointing to the high risk of food allergies.
Experts estimate that every year about 10 Britons die from allergic food reactions, and about 5,000 people are being hospital for serious reactions.
