The Justice Department filed a case to a grand jury in Maryland on Thursday, and they agreed there was sufficient evidence to sue Bolton, the BBC writes.
This comes after FBI agents searched Bolton's home and office in August as part of an investigation into dealing with classified information.
The Act makes the 76-year-old, third of the US president's political opponents facing charges last week, after former FBI Director James Comey and New York General Prosecutor Lettia James. /Periscope/
