The price of silver in today's markets rose briefly to over $51 per ounce during Thursday's shopping session, after breaking the $50 ons threshold earlier in the day. Since then, he has fallen back under $49 per share, where it opened Thursday. The last time silver was traded around these levels was January 1980.

Gold prices on today's markets dropped by 2% on Thursday, after spending $4,000 on Wednesday for the first time.

Investors of precious metals registered profits in both silver and gold, as prices for safe assets fell after a ceasefire agreement announced in the Israeli-Haams war in Gaza.

“Spectaculars are removing several gold coins from the market as the ceasefire in Gaza enters into force, as it decreases the temperature in a historically unstable region”, said Tai Wong, an independent metal merchant, in a Reuters report.

“Ari and silver may need further consolidation, but the main factors affecting price hikes, diversification of reserves, and the enormous global sovereign debt on the rise remain completely valid and keep the optimistic outlook” intact, Wong added.

The increase in gold prices this year has been driven by geopolitical tensions, as well as by strong demand from central banks, increased inflows to market funds on the stock exchange (ETF), expectations for lower interest rates and economic uncertainty stemming from tariffs and changes in trade policies.

SPDR Gold ETF Trust, the largest supported by physical gold, has grown by nearly 50% this year. While the smaller ETFs of mines, including the top performance ETNs, Gold Miners 3X Leveraged, have grown by more than 740% as ETF this year, according to vettaFi monitoring.

The 69% increase in silver this year is driven by similar factors, as well as the lack of supply in the silver spot market.

ETFs linked to the gold cousin are also big winners this year, with ETF in Shares M. SCI Global Silver Miners, which has increased over 14.8% and ProShares Ultra Silver, which has increased more than 14.8%.

A precious metal dealer told Reuters that liquidity on the silver market in London is limited due to the purchase of ETF and the shift of metals in the US./FoxBusiness/Periscope.
