Scandal in Switzerland: The nurse who took care of Michael Schumacher was raped by his son's friend

Swiss justice is under the scrutiny of a case of sexual abuse involving the seven-time narrow circle of Formula champion 1, Michael Schumacher. According to the indictment, the defendant is an Australian racing pilot, a close friend of the legend's son, Mick Schumacher, who allegedly raped his father's nurse inside the family residence in Gland, in Vaud Canton, late 2019.

According to the Swiss newspaper 24heures.ch, the Schumacher family, as stated in the indictment, has no involvement in this case, except that the incident allegedly occurred in their home. No family member was present when the act was carried out, nor were they called to witness. Prosecutor Xavier Christ, who is handling the case, has not requested family participation in court procedures.

The alleged victim, then in his 30 ' s, worked on the permanent medical team that cared for Schumacher after he suffered a serious head injury in a ski accident at Marilyn in 2013. The defendant, also in his late 30 ' s, was a professional racing pilot with ambition for Form 1 that never reached them. At the time, he was a close friend of Mick Schumacher, competing in the same races and often photographed together in social events.

Realizing what had happened, the woman asked him to stop approaching her and decided not to speak with the Schumacher family, fearing that she would lose her job.

The indictment was finally filed two years later, in January 2022 a delay that, as authorities explain, is not unusual in cases of sexual violence, as realisation and the decision to speak often take time. Meanwhile, she had been laid off from her family, although she claims she had pretentious professional behavior “which was unblemished”.

As she notes, her dismissal coincided with another visit of the defendant to the Gland home.

The trial was scheduled for Wednesday at 9am, but its development is uncertain. According to information, the defendant has been missing for months, though he has co-operated with authorities during the investigation. In 2024, he had travelled from Australia to testify before the prosecutor, claiming that he had a “consensus relationship”.
