Albania's Assembly has dropped the opposition's call for a debate motion on the governing programme for the next four years. With 73 votes against the majority, the motion did not pass, thus prompting reactions by opposition representatives.
The chairman of the Socialist Party's Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, said the opposition's request was flawed and contrary to the Parliament's regulation.
“Oposor has no will for real debate, so their demands are not complete”, Balla said.
The arguments at the session during the day also focused on Kosovo, Euronews reported, the Periscope broadcast.
Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha called Prime Minister Edi Rama “Minister of Vucic”, while also criticising the lack of a resolution in the Parliament for Serbian genocide in Kosovo. Democrat MP Tomor Alizot also criticised the lack of handling of the Kosovo issue in the governing programme.
“No word for Kosovo, no clear stance for the genocide resolution. This is a public disgrace”, Alizot said.
Part of the debate became SP deputy Ardit Bido, who said statements describing KLA leaders as being charged with genocide in Serbia are being heard in the Assembly as being charged with genocide in Serbia, which, according to him, Serbia itself has not done. Berisha denied this, accusing Bidon of deforming statements.
Later, through a video message, Bido said he could not answer Berisha at the speaker because of a family problem, while explaining that the genocide statement was made by Tritan Shehu, not by Berisha.
Confrontation during this debate and in this session of the Parliament, Republican Party leader Fatmir Mediu said he will participate in Friday's protest in Tirana in support of the KLA, stressing that he will be a citizen, not a politician.
Balla confirmed that Prime Minister Edi Rama will not take part in the protest, arguing that his presence would politicise the event. /Periscopi
