PDK points: If Kurt fails, we will take the initiative to form Government

But if it fails to secure the necessary 61 votes, the Democratic Party of Kosovo is warning that it will take the initiative itself to build a new parliamentary majority.

MP PDK, Rashit Qalaj, said they are waiting for Vetevendosje to assume responsibility for forming the government as the winner of the election, but if it fails, The PDK is ready to act.

“We are waiting for the party, which has mostly taken the seat in the Kosovo Parliament, and since MP Albin Kurti has already been formally mandated, as mandated to form the government, we are waiting for them to create the parliamentary majority and have the government, and if not normally the PDK will then take the initiative to create a majority and create the government.”, said Qalaj on the Index.

He stressed that the PDK is not interested in any co-ordination with Vetevendosje, excluding the possibility of a joint coalition.

Under the Constitution, if the first candidate for prime minister does not get enough votes, the country's president has 10 days to mandate another candidate. And if the second attempt fails, the country goes to new elections, which must be held within 40 days of the announcement.
