Political analyst Shkelzen Maliqi has reacted after the updated publication of results by the Central Election Commission for the South Mitrovica municipality, where 87.6% of the vote is counted. According to him, the current margin in favour of PDK candidate Arrian Tahiri, compared to the preliminary result announced on October 15th, is considerable and reinforces the credibility of Exit Poles that were initially contested.
“Thiri is in the lead with 777 votes, or about 3.4%, which is a huge and very difficult gap down to 12% of votes that have not yet been counted or are in the process of re-checking”, Maliqi points out in a public response.
He says there may be options where Vetevendosje candidate Faton Peci has received concentrated votes, which could otherwise affect the outcome, but it also raises doubts.
The “is likely that in one or several locations the VV candidate has received concentrated votes, which are not excluded as opportunities, but can also serve as a element of suspicion of irregularities and fraud that must be investigated,” adds Maliqi.
