According to the preliminary results of the Central Election Commission (KQZ), local elections held on October 12th 2025 have brought an extremely close race among the country's main parties, warning a second round of elections on November 9th that is expected to be crucial to the fate of many municipalities.
The Vetevendosje (VV) movement, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) will face a large number of municipalities, while the final result will be determined precisely in the runoff, Transmitt Periscope.
VV has secured victory without a run-off in three municipalities: Kamenice, Podujevo and Entrance. In another 12 municipalities, it is expected to compete in the second round: Bloodov (against Gnjilan (against LDK), Fushe Kosovo (against LDK), Mitrovica (against PDK), Kacanic (against PDK), Obilic (against LDK), Rahovec (against AAK), Peja (against LDK), Pristina (against LDK, Prizren (against PDK), Year (against LDK) and Vushtrri (against PDK.
In three of them, the VV leads, while in nine others, it ranks second, preserving potential for growth in the second round.
The PDK has also won three municipalities without a run-off: Skenderaj, Ferizaj and Hani Elez, while in six other municipalities he will face in the second round: Dragash (against LDK), Kacanic (against VV), Kline (against AAK), Mitrovica (against VV), Prizren (against VV's and Vushtrri.
In four of them the PDK leads, while in two others it ranks second.
The LDK has won victory in two municipalities in the first round -- Istog and Lipjan -- and will participate in nine runoffs -- Gjilan, Fushe Kosovo, Obilic, Peja, Pristina, Year (all against VV), as well as Dragas (against VV) PDK), Suhareka and Yunik (against AAK's.
In six of these municipalities, the LDK is in the upper hand, while in three is second, ranking as one of the most stable performance parties in this election process.
The AAK has secured victory without a run-off in Decani, while facing five other municipalities: Gjakova, Rahovec (both against VV), Kline (against PDK), Suhareka and Yunik (against LDK.
Meanwhile, the Social Democrat Initiative has preserved the municipality of Malisheva, where it has won without a run-off, while in other municipalities it has not achieved visible results.
Independent candidate Ramiz Ladrovci has won without a run-off in Drenas.
In Serb-run municipalities, the Serb List has secured victories in nine municipalities, mainly north of the country, while in Klokot, it will compete in the runoff.
