President Vjosa Osmani has signed on Saturday the decree he mandated Albin Kurti to form the Government.
Under the constitution, the president in consultation with the party or the coalition that has the majority in the Assembly mandates the candidate for prime minister. The mandate has 15 days to present the makeup of the Government and seek approval from the Parliament. The proposed cabinet, to be adopted, must secure at least 61 votes in the Assembly with 120 deputies.
If it fails to secure the support of 61 deputies, President Osmani has the duty within ten days to invite parties for consultations and decide on the mandate that has the greatest chances of forming Government. The mandate has another 15 days to hand over the new composition of the government cabinet to the Assembly. If even after the second effort the government cannot be formed, President Osmani, under the Constitution, must announce new elections, which must be held within 40 days.
The Vetevendosje movement, which came first from the February 9th elections, has 48 deputies in the Assembly. It awaits support from seven non-Serb minority communities, while also the possibility of involvement of the Social Democrat Initiative having three seats in the Assembly. With the Initiative it has been confirmed that there have been negotiations, but that they have not produced agreements.
