The Swedish activist has shared details of the five days she spent in Israeli captivity, as the army stopped the fleet of ships headed for Gaza, which she had joined.
In an interview with the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, published today, Thunberg said it was “hit and kicked” by soldiers on arrival in Israel.
“They tore my hat from the frog, threw it to the ground, trampled it and kicked it, and somehow burst into rage”, Thurberg said, adding that soldiers were taking pictures with it.
Some activists were later kept in outer cages despite the heat, causing some of them to lose consciousness, she said. Thundberg also accused the guards of being denied water and deprived prisoners of sleep, writes Skynews.
She said earlier reports that it was wrapped in an Israeli flag were true. The interview includes images of Thundberg's suitcases with the words "Kurva Gretaʹ written on them, near the drawings of an Israeli flag and male genitals, which she attributes to Israeli guards.
Thundberg had earlier claimed to have been tortured (the Israeli government denies), but said he did not want to share details for the moment so as not to turn his attention away from Gaza.
The Global Sumud fleet had transported territory relief supplies in order to draw attention to the Israeli naval blockade.
Israeli troops seized him before reaching the coast, arresting about 450 activists.
