Constitutional Term for 2026 Budget
Before presenting the new cabinet government, LeCornu met for consultations with President Emmanuel Macro at the Élysée Palace. According to a budget president's spokesman for 2026, the constitutional deadline should be presented by Wednesday (15.10.2025), in order to be respected. LeCornu stands before the task of reducing France's high budget deficit. Conservators demand spending cuts, while left liberals tax for billionaires and suspending the controversial pension reform that Macron undertaken. The prime minister has not ruled out another resignation, if the budget approval fails. His previous cabinet a week ago did not survive even 14 hours when he was forced to step down. On Friday (10.10.2025) Lecornu was again appointed by Macron to the prime minister's post. / DW
