Egypt: This is a new era of peace and security in the Middle East

Egypt's president says today's agreements on Gaza “open the door for a new era of peace and security in the Middle East”.

Abdel Fattah al Sisi says the end of the Gaza war should be the end of all wars in the region”, while adding that his country will organise a summit for the reconstruction of Gaza.

He adds that a two-state solution is the only “way to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian and Israeli people to end the” conflict.

“Peace does not make countries and states, but people who are convinced that yesterday's opponents are today's” friends, he said.
