Investigations into the assassination of Judge Astrit Kalaya in Tirana have revealed more evidence. In the “Mercedes Benz” vehicle owned by John Schkamby, the uncle of the suspected author Elvis Shkambi, police have found 31 bullets of the 9 mm calibre sequentised as material evidence.
It is learned that John and Elvis Shkambi were headed from Shkodra to Tirana on the morning of the event, with stops in Lezha and the Supreme Court, before arriving at the Court of General Jurition Appeal, where crime occurred.
In his testimony, Elvis Shkambi admitted to having shot Judge Calaya, but has denied having targeted other people. “MI'd kill you in Shkodra if I wanted to. I had no problem with anyone else. The judge was lying, alive and consciousm”, he declared.
The author added that he held the gun for 10 years and that he was armed at every trial hearing. He said he carried out the action “by hatred for the verdict of Judge”, but is later repentant.
After the shooting, Shkambi went out in the yard and asked his uncle to leave. “I gave him the car keys, but he didn't leave. He was shocked and said: Turn us off! )”, he indicated.
