And the names that continue to be mentioned in diplomatic corridors for the position of the European Union's Special Emissar for the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue are two diplomats known to the public.
Miroslav Lajcak, the special minister of dialogue who has held this position for three years, will leave the post at the end of the month.
Despite speculation about who might be the successor of the Slovak diplomat, there is still no official name.
Among the names mentioned, however, are Pekka Havisto and Peter Sorensen.
Both are known in the field of diplomacy and have experience in the Western Balkans.
None of the two candidates mentioned has denied the possibility of taking the EU special representative's difficult task in dialogue, but all will depend on the mood of the new high representative and the EU Council.
In fact, the names of former foreign minister of Finland and the diplomat from Denmark have begun to be mentioned by last year's summer, when Lajcak was appointed a new position of EU ambassador to Switzerland.
And as in the past, his mandate was extended to him in July 2024.
The EU's argument for extending Lajcak's mandate was that the appointment of a new special envoy for dialogue would be left to the new chief of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, but that has not provided much detail about its role in this process whether she will appoint a new special representative, or whether she will lead the process on its own.
