The outgoing European Union for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has said he is proud of EU co-operation with the United States of America during his mandate.
On Twitter, he wrote on Monday evening for a meeting with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Balkans Alexander Cassanoff and Assistant Secretary James O'Brien.
My first session in 2025 took me to the States. In Washington DC, I had a comprehensive discussion on the Western Balkans with Kasanofin. I'm proud of excellent cooperation B E-US during my mandate”, he wrote.
The European Union confirmed a day ago that it is under way to select Lajcak's successor. He will be in the post of facilitator in Kosovo- Serbia until the end of January.
On Friday (January 3rd), it has expired for the presentation of candidates from whom the high representative for foreign policy and security, Kaya Kallas, will choose whom he will appoint as EU special representative for dialogue.
Among the names most continue to be mentioned are former Finland Minister Pekka Havisto, and diplomat from Denmark Peter Sorensen. Both have experience from the Western Balkan region.
