NBA legend Dickemb Mutombo, has died at the age of 58 from brain cancer, was released Monday by the American basketball league.
“Dicmby Mutombo was simply bigger than life”, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement.
“In the playing field he was one of the biggest blockers and one of the best defence players in NBA history. Outside the park he left his heart and soul to help others. There was no one more worthy than Dickembe to serve as the first NBA global ambassador. He wanted the basketball game to have an impact on the community, especially in the country of birth, the Democratic Republic of Congo”.
Mutombo was born in Kinshasa, Congo. His list of arrivals is too long. At All Star of the NBA was eight times. Four times he was the best defence player in the NBA in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001.
