He has said this is the most serious initiative that offers the region towards the European Union and Kosovo's departure from this process would have major consequences for Kosovo.
The possibility of being thrown out of the Berlin Process would be of great consequence to the Republic of Kosovo. This is the most important diplomatic initiative that has taken place in the last decade to offer the region to the European Union. Kosovo is jeopardising its integration perspective. Just discussing Kosovo's possibility of being side-sided by the Berlin Process is very serious”, Mustafa has said on the “Diter” show in Tv1.
German envoy to the Western Balkans Manuel Sarrazin has said that Kosovo risks deeper isolation due to the ban on Serbian imports.
“Kosovo could face calls for exemption from the Central European Free Trade Agreement and other penalties if it continues to ban Serbian imports”, Sarrazin has said
On 5 September, Germany's ambassador to Pristina, Jorn Rohde, said Sarrazzin, on his second visit to Kosovo within a short deadline, had asked Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to lift the ban imposed in June 2023 on importing domestic products. Serbian origins, which Sarrazin says are blocking free trade in the region and obstructing CEFTA.
In exchange for lifting the ban, Kosovo would no longer be officially represented under CEFTA by the UN mission in Kosovo, U n NMIC, but it will be represented itself. However, her name would be written as Kosovo*, with stars leading to an intangible saying Kosovo's status has not yet been finally resolved according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244, reflecting Serbia's refusal to recognise it as an independent state.
