The AIP inspector, Kuqim Mustafa, has told Online Economy that the information was received by the Kosovo Police, while stressing that such cameras that violate privacy will be confiscated.
“The AIP as the competent institution for monitoring the Law for the Protection of Personal Data after accepting information from the Kosovo Police that on the street of Zeldin Recaliu, there are cameras that are not known to personal data controllers. In co-operation with the Kosovo Police, it has been found that the same camera must be removed and not oversee public space. We call on every camera controller that cameras that are in public space are the same to remove because it is the competence of the Kosovo Police”, Mustafa has said, adding that such cases have occurred in Shrpca.
It's the second case we've made seizures behind the Shtrpce municipality, but every time we notice that the same cameras are monitoring, in this case private or public controllers who have cameras in their own premises, we order that cameras control only internal spaces within the perimeter in which the controller has his property. The owner is unknown, Kosovo police have informed us that this camera is unknown to us as to who is controlled, has not been imposed by any law institution. So it was a X-ray camera and it went off and confiscated. For all who do the same act, we order to leave because unauthorized observation is considered criminal offence”, Mustafa has said.
