The German government has consulted the main opposition CDU party for ways to curb migration in the face of public concern and after a deadly stab attack by a Syrian asylum seekers last month in the town of Solingen.
Last week, the party against AfD immigration won state elections in Turingi and came in second in Saxony.
Mrs. Faeser's Social Democrats face state elections in Brandenburg after two weeks, where the party rules in coalition with the Greens and Democristians.
Germany shares its land border of more than 2,000 miles [700 km] with Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
Austria's Foreign Minister, Gerhard Carrer, told the German newspaper ʹBildić on Monday that his country would not accept any migrants expelled from Germany at the border.
“There is no room for maneuvering”, He said.

Germany will work closely with neighbouring countries in implementing temporary border controls, Interior Minister Nancy Fyser said on Monday, adding that this would keep the impact on cross-border regions as small as possible.
