She said the time is to open the bridge to be happy citizens of both parts of the city.
“Yes, the situation is tense from time to time, but, as you know, in Kosovo, Turkey, in Slovene, the bridges are there to connect not only the parts of the city, but the people as well. So there's nothing bad and provocative at opening a bridge. It's time to open the bridge and we'll do it in a way that citizens of both parts of town will be happy to see the bridge opening. Because in the vicinity of that bridge is one of Milosevic's last symbols in our country”, Gervala told the English-language Turkish media “T RT World
In the interview, the moderator confronted Gervala with Western criticism, asking her an interesting question.
I want to ask you, why would this bridge open now? What is the importance for Pristina to open now, bearing in mind all these warnings from international partners?
The drill answered that the bridge is not opening now and that only for some preparation to be performed “to open at a moment when it is appropriate”.
We're not opening it now. We're getting ready to open at a moment when it's appropriate for our city, our citizens and our country. So as we're preparing, we're making all the technical issues that are necessary, because this bridge hasn't been used for a while for vehicles and we're making all the technical steps. We are preparing for the meeting with citizens in both parts of the city through mayors and other politicians. So we're preparing the situation for the opening of the bridge to be a day of joy for all”, Gervala added.
