Sergio Rizco is expected to complete a free transfer to Al-Gharafa to the Qatar Star League, 16 months after he nearly lost his life.
The goalie, who made 29 appearances at Premier League for Fulham in the 2018-19 season, suffered a serious head injury in May last year during a horse accident.
Rico spent three weeks in a coma, while a medical report confirmed that he had been half a centimeter away from death.
At the time, he was under contract with Paris Saint-Germain, but left the French team in June this year after the contract ended.
Rico, 31, hasn't played an official game since May 2022, when he was borrowing from Mallorca in La League.
However, it is expected to return to the field next month, as soon as it completes its transfer to Al-harafa.
It is learned that Rico will travel to Qatar on Wednesday to complete his transfer.
Al-Gharafa will be the fifth team in Rizco's career, which started with his city team, Seville.
He won Europe's League twice with Seville, before adding six more trophies during his time to the SPG.
Al-Gharafa finished third in the Qatar Star League last season, which was enough to qualify for the AFC Champions League.
