China said it has tested an intercstrian ballistic missile on September 25th. The rocket, fired in the Pacific Ocean, presents the first test of this kind that China has performed in decades.
The release of this missile prompted opposition from other states in the region, as Japan said China had not announced the test in advance, expressing “deep concern” for Beijing's military gathering.
Beijing has intensified its nuclear development and increased defence spending in recent years. Last October, the Pentagon warned that China is developing its nuclear arsenal faster than the US had predicted.
China has more than 500 nuclear operational heads since May 1923 and will likely have more than 1,000 by 2030, the US said.
Chinese Army missile forces deployed an intercccstrian ballistic missile... which had a fake nuclear head, and the missile was fired in the Pacific Ocean at 8:44 on 25 September and the missile fell into the sea zone that was projected to be”, China's Defence Ministry said.
This minister named this test as “ropinor” and said “was part of our annual exercise plan”.
The “is in line with international law and international practices and was not directed against any state or target”.
In addition to Japan, Australia expressed outrage at this action of China, asking for “explanation” from Beijing, after saying it was worried “from any action that could destabilise and increase the risk of malgaring” in the region.
New Zealand also said the launch of the missile, which fell into the South Pacific, was “disturbing development”.
Beijing had for the first time conducted a test of an interccircular ballistic missile in the South Pacific in the 1980 ' s. Since then, China has largely conducted such tests in its airspace. /Radiovropaelire
