University professors through a letter sent to Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Minister Albulen Hadziu stress that the decision to reduce legal protection spending violates the right to effective protection and equality in the process, at risk of the integrity and legitimacy of the KLA's fair cause.
In their letter, 25 university professors seek urgent review of administrative instruction that limits financial support in order to ensure respect for the rights of the accused and defend Kosovo's historical and legal rights.
Subscriptors of this letter, delivered in April to Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Haxhiu, are the renowned professors, such as Enver Hasani, Hakif Bajrami, Muhamet Mustafa, Isa Qosja, Shefkije Islamaj, Adem Rusinovac, Shkumbin Istrefi, Ismet Sijarina, Luan Jaha, and many others.
As intellectuals and university professors, they in their letter consider that limiting financial spending for the defence teams of former KLA officials and/or persons charged with alleged crimes, as specifically defined in Law No. The 05L-053 for Specialised Chambers and Specialised Prosecutor's Office constitutes groundless, unreasonable and unproportionate decisions, which also presents limits of opportunity and the ability to protect the right cause of the KLA's heroic war.
By being convinced of the purity of the KLA war and taking into consideration the risks of reconfirming its integrity, 25 university professors have called on the Kosovo government to urgently take the necessary actions to review this administrative instruction so that it does not limit and prevent the achievement of the goal.
