Swiss football player of Albanian origin Gerdan Shqiri has returned to his childhood club Basel. The signing comes just a few hours after it formalised the interruption of the contract with the MLS Chicago Fire team.
After 12 years abroad and 13 titles (two-time League Champions), a global career with some of the best clubs in Europe, and 125 presentations for the Swiss adult national, Shaqiri returns to Basel.
He has signed a three-year contract with the club until the summer of 2027.
Sports Director Daniel Stucki: “We've been talking to Gerdan for weeks and we're extremely glad that his return to Basel has finally worked. The signature was only possible financially because the FCB, but most of all Gerdan himself, loved this return”.
