With this triumph, Leon Marsho takes a seat in the biggest swimming club, becoming the fourth swimmer in history to win four gold medals in four different races during an Olympics. Michael Phelps had earlier arrived, twice in 2004, and 2008, Mark Spits in 1972 and Christine Otto in 1988.
