And so, KFOR has suggested that it is willing to contribute to a safe environment, including a fixed presence on the Mitrovica bridge and regular patrols in surrounding areas.
“KFOR continues to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1244 based on its 1999 mandate to contribute to a secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement at any time and impartially; including a fixed presence on the Mitrovica bridge and regular patrols in surrounding areas. We never share operational details. KFOR has a visible, flexible and well-equipped stance and we will not hesitate to address any development that could affect the security environment and regional stability, in full respect of our UN mandate. KFOR acts as the third security reacter, in close co-ordination with the Kosovo Police and the EU's mission for Rule of Law (EULEX), which are the first and second responder to security” respectively, says KFOR's response to Rtv21.
