Kosovo handball has remained without its outstanding personality. On Monday, Kosovo Federation of Handball Secretary General Izet Djindovci has passed away.
Djindjic passed away at 63 years of age.
The late Djindovci dedicated his life to the handball sport. His duties as secretary - general have been performed with exemplary devotion and passion until the last breath.
His contribution to Kosovo handball development is colossal.
Following a successful career as Pristina handball player, the late Djindovci took the lead in the Pristina club. He sacrificed a lot to lead the club successfully, and over a period, he had melted all the property for the club's welfare.
It has contributed to the independence of Kosovo's sports, while in the nineth years, when sports had an anti-invasion mission against the invaders, it has been distinguished with unhindered commitment. It was part of important handball arrangements and an integral part of it.
From 2002 until the last day of his life, he has successfully performed the work of Secretary General of the Kosovo Handball Federation. He has led the international lobbie process, along with FHK honourary President Mejid Devaja. Success was great.
Since 2004, a decade before other team sports, the FHK was granted limited rights in the European Handball Federation. Kosovo clubs won the right to be shown in European competitions, and Izet Djindjic's contribution to the process was great.
Later, together with FHK President Eugen Sarachini, they have led the full accession process to the EHF and IHF. This process was also successfully completed. The FHK was accepted first by collective sports federations.
The reports of the late Djindjic with the handball community in the country were exemplary. He has been valued and appreciated in each environment in which he is presented. Even the IHF and EHF management reports of other national federations were excellent. It has been distinguished by the charisma that has enabled access to the highest levels of international handball. From April 23, 2021, Djindov was a member of the EHF Appeal Court.
In this important body, he was elected by the votes of members of the EHF Congress. It was one of the most votes, and this testifies to the respect it has enjoyed at international handball levels.
The late Djindovci has contributed to the rapid development of our national teams, two historical qualifications in the World, and reaching ever higher levels with the A Nationals.
Co-operation with the country's other federations and with state institutions was excellent. His doors were open in every country because of his hard work.
With Djindjic's life divided, Kosovo and FHK handball have remained without a very important pillar.
The FHK expresses its sincere condolences to the highly honoured Djindovci family.
