An indictment is expected against former KEK chief

The indictment, which the previous day has been set up to former KEK chief Nagip Krasniqi, has nothing to do with the allegations he was arrested for last year. The Actakuz has been derived from documents that have seized investigation, and which show that power has been acquired from a company that had no license in Kosovo. E [...]
As KOHA has learned, the established indictment is fully divided by the investigation Krasniqi has been arrested for in April last year. He was arrested under suspicion of misuse of office, exercise of influence and conflict of interest. And during the raids, various documents were seized, including three computers, a laptop, a mobile phone and a USB, in quality of material evidence that will serve for further procedure.
Now, sources in the investigator showed that following the arrest of allegations of misuse of official office in two contracts, the State Prosecutor has begun investigating Krasniqi for energy trade with a Slovenian company that had no license from the Energy Regulatory Office to operate in Kosovo.
According to these sources, from documents that have seized investigation last year and from reviewing online communications, Krasniqi has been reported that the company selling electricity to Kosovo had no license but has continued working with it.
Investigation officials have indicated on condition that there is evidence that a KEK official has announced Krasniqi that the Slovenian company is not licensed.
Krasniqi has been contacted to take a stand on the issue. The former KEK chief chief has refused to comment, arguing that neither he, but his lawyer has yet to take the charge.
The Special Prosecutor's announcement of this indictment was very short and without any additional details.
“Following the indictment, the N.K. defendant. beginning October 15, 2021, and continuing until April 19, 2023, in the quality of the official person, using official duty, had committed a criminal act: misuse of official position or authority”, the prosecution's announcement said.
Sources in the investigator have claimed that the case for which an indictment has already been filed is being taken over by a prosecutor who has not dealt with the investigation that has led to Krasniqi's arrest last year.
According to the same sources, two other prosecutors are involved in the next investigation, and the investigation is expected to end with the second indictment within weeks.
Krasniqi has been arrested for signing a contract with negotiated procedure with the company “Litwin SA” in partnership with “Buyari B. Shala B. I.” for emergency government capital repair of the A5 block thermal power plant “Kosovo A”, worth over 3.4m euros.
The contract was signed for a short period. On January 27th, the call had been made, and on February 3rd the contract had been signed.
The company “Litwin SA” was also in the race in an earlier cancelled tender for the A5 block repair, while the company “Bujar B. Shala B. I.”, according to data from the Business Record Agency, was registered on January 25th of 2022, while primary activity has retail trade.
The other contract is the commitment of a legal consulting company, worth 60 thousand euros, and in which suspicion is of conflict of interest. The contract is valid until April 2024.
The Special Prosecutor is also conducting active investigation into Martin Berisha, who is Kosovo's ambassador to Croatia.
Former KEK chief chief Nagip Krasniqi has also been interviewed by the Special Prosecutor in the quality of the witness in the case.
Krasniqi, after his arrest, has remained in custody for about five months.
