The Human Rights Network has said the Law adopted for the Independent Media Commission is unable to operate this body independently, jeopardising media freedom as one of the fundamental constitutional rights and as the precondition of democracy.
RDNI's reaction reportedly does not bring this law together on the right of the European Union poses violations of Kosovo's international obligations.
” Kosovo has ratified the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union. Kosovo's commitment to bring legislation into sectors through with that of the EU and to implement it more effectively is one of the foundations of this agreement. Thus, the adoption of this Bill represents violations of international obligations Kosovo has received”.
For all these reasons, the Human Rights Network requires that this law not go into effect. This Law should be challenged by parties authorised to the Constitutional Court, and if this does not happen, then the president of the Republic of Kosovo, on the basis of his mandate, must return this Bill to the Parliament”, it is said in response.
