U n NDP: Serbs feel more uncertain than last year

The report says that “has been marked by a decline in Kosovo Serbs' perception of security rates of 5.7 percentage points compared to November 2023, when this figure was 37.6%”. Now the percentage is 31.9 of Serbs who say they don't feel very secure.

“The data from the May 2024 survey has shown an increase in people's perception of their security level, where 83.2% have claimed they feel very secure or to some extent safe when they are off the street, compared to 79.73% in November 2023. The data released by gender has shown that a slightly larger number of men than women feel safe when they are out on the street, 83.4% and 82.9%”, respectively, says the report.

While more than last year, more has emerged from Albanians and other communities than they said they felt safer.

“Distorted data according to ethnic affiliation have shown that a greater number of Kosovo Albanians (85.3%) and other Kosovo communities (83.2%) compared to Kosovo Serbs (31.9%) feel secure when they are out on the street. Compared to November 2023 data, the data has shown an increase in the security perception of 4.5 percentage points in Kosovo Albanians and a 3.2 percentage point increase in other Kosovo communities, with which these figures are counted as 80.8% and 80.0%, respectively,<1>.
