Information and Private Agency seeks from Public and Private Enterprises protection of citizens' personal data

Based on its legal mandate, to protect the personal data of citizens, respectively, the provisions of Law No. 06/L-082 for the Protection of Personal Data, Agency for Information and Private (AIP) calls on Public and Private Enterprises to protect personal citizen data during service delivery, respectively, during the distribution of bills to consumers (citizens).
In implementing its legal responsibilities, the Agency for Information and Privateness at the end of February 2024, has asked for all public and private companies to take security measures while distributing bills to consumers.
The deadline for Public and Private Enterprises distributing bills to citizens to place bills in envelopes because of personal data protection has been June 30th, 2024. The request is addressed to ensure the protection of personal data of citizens, preventing unauthorized exposure of them.
Under the provision of personal data protection of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, the Agency for Information and Privateness is seeking from Public and Private Enterprises to provide citizens' services (disregarding bills) in the format that guarantees the protection of personal data of citizens from unauthorized exposure and access. Consequently, Public and Private Enterprises are obliged to take adequate security measures in the case of providing services to citizens (reparing bills) and to set appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure an adequate level of security against possible risks of misusing personal citizen data.
In this context, The AIP requires these control enforcement of rules and standards for the protection of personal data of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo as defined by Law No. 06/L-082 for the Protection of Personal Data.
The aim of the Agency for Information and Privateity is to fulfil its legal mandate in protecting citizens' personal data to prevent unauthorized exposure of them.
