The attack on the media has been systematic. In nearly four years of government, we have insults, blackmail, threats, raids and attempts to close the media. Freedom once enjoyed has been put at risk every time.
Next blow is the new law for the Independent Media Commission. The new law is effectively enabling the capture of KPM by power and control through its devices, some new ones. Example are online media; it is currently required to establish Commission records and rigorous monitoring of online media. Reformers of the new regulation may face up to 40,000 euros in fines. Effectively, wide bankrolling in closing.
The governing model with authoritarian tendencies is aimed at submission, especially where hardness can do so. Media in Kosovo have been on the front lines of disproportion of evil governance, corruption and abuse by this power. This freedom of action in essence democratic is seriously being violated by the new KPM law.
