Apparently, calls for Biden to leave the presidential race are increasing, and his re-election efforts were recently damaged by two serious prides.
And later at a press conference, the first public presentation of Biden since the debate he referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump”.
Throughout the summit, however, other NATO leaders have defended Beden and his ability to lead.
Macron said there was a long discussion with Beden at lunchtime and called on to understand his shortcomings, writes BBCHe's following in on Telegrafie.
“I have seen as always a president who is at the helm, clear on issues that you know well”, Macron said.
We all make mistakes sometimes, it happened to me before, maybe it'll happen tomorrow”, he added.
“There are errors and if you always monitor everyone, you will find a lot of them”, Scholz said.
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said repeatedly during the summit that the American president had done much to be proud of.
He added: “We have spent two days and we have achieved a very good result. And I think he deserves the credit for this”.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that it was a privilege and a pleasure to work with Biden.
“The depth of Biden's experience, his thinking, his sustainability for the biggest issues and challenges of our time is a credit for the work we're all doing together”, Trudeau said.
Finnish President Alexander Stubbb combined Beden's defence with fears of the atmosphere in American elections.
I have absolutely no concern with the capacity of the current president of the United States to lead his country and lead our fight for Ukraine and lead NATO”, Stubb said.
The only thing I'm concerned about is that the political climate in the United States is now very toxic, is highly polarised and that doesn't leave enough space for a civilized and constructive debate”, he added.
However, not all NATO leaders were prepared to declare themselves in favour of Beden.
Instead, he left immediately after the end of the March-a-Lago summit, Trump's residence in Florida, where the two reportedly discussed the war in Ukraine.
We discussed ways to make peace. The good news of the day: he will solve”, Orban said.
