US Vice President Kamala Harris has said she is honoured to enjoy the support of the current president, Joe Biden, to enter the November presidential race and aimed at victory.
I'll do everything I can to unite our nation's Democratic Party to beat Donald Trump and his extreme project 2025”, Harris said through a statement.
We have 107 days until election day. Together we fight. And together we're going to win”.
This decision comes after the growing calls for Beden to leave the race for the November elections, especially after a debate with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, in which there was no good performance.
“has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as president”, Biden has said, warning he will speak more during the week about this decision.
Beden, 81-year-old, was infected earlier in the week with Coronavirus and is in solitary confinement at his home in Dellauer.
Biden has been resisting weeks of calls to withdraw from the race, saying he is the best person to defeat Trump, 78-year-old.
Beden defeated Trump in 2020, guaranteeing victory in critical states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.
The coalition of Democrats, in which the presidential candidate is officially appointed, will be held on 19-22 August in Chicago, Illinois.
If chosen as a democratic candidate, Harris, 59-year-old, former professor and senator of California, will become the first colored woman in American history to compete for presidents.
