Today the Paris 2024 Olympics begin, which last until 11 August, and where Kosovo will be introduced to 9 athletes.
Kosovo's Olympic team will be presented with five jungles, a boxer, an athlete and two swimmers.
And Serbia is disturbing one issue: what if they are with Kosovo athletes on the podium?
For these, Serbian Olympic Committee President Bozidar Malkovic has been declared for the Serbian magazine NIN.
He has said that the important thing is that, if they face Kosovo athletes, they defeat them and that flight is in Serb nature.
“on this issue, at the state level, does not approve or determine position. Go to the podium or not? My attitude is to get to the podium, because it's not Serbian to leave. To defeat that opponent from Kosovo! They're KON members like all other KON members. Like Britain, Germany, like Serbia. Even Thomas Bach, the president of the KON, threatened during Rio to suspend us and expel us from his membership if we refused to play. I ask, who has the right to destroy their youth, who has the right to risk their future with such a move, risking no participation in the Olympics? Who is this and why do you do this?
I told the president of the country my position. He went downstairs in front of the whole team in front of Tokyo, when he waited for us, and agreed to what I suggested not leave the podium. I say, it's not Serbian to leave. And this is my position. Of course, someone doesn't like it, I know that. Maybe as a civilian I'd think differently. Believe me, this is the only right thing”, Malkovic said, broadcast the Clankosova.tv.
Kosovo's Olympic team's list tops Olympic champions, Distria Krasniqi and Nora Gjakova, then three other Judists -- Laura Fazliu, Akil Gjakova and Loriana Kuka.
The other athletes who will represent Kosovo in Paris are Donjet Sadiku in Bosnia, Gresa Bakracaki in athletics, and Hannah Beiqi and Adwell Shaboviq in swimming.
