In the communiqué issued by heads of state and government participating in the NATO meeting in the American capital, allies announced the intention to provide Ukraine with military assistance worth 40 billion euros within the next year.
The document also expresses itself in a harsher language than in the past to China, calling it “the wrestler of Russia's <x1nd combat efforts towards Ukraine, and that Beijing continues to present systematic challenges to Euro-Atlantic security.
The Western Balkans and the Black Sea regions have strategic importance for the alliance, and NATO remains strongly committed to their security and stability, the communique said.
“We will continue to improve our political dialogue and practical co-operation with the Western Balkans to support reforms, peace and regional security and to fight against the influence of Malij, including deinformation, hybrid and cyber threats by state actors and their allies”, the communiqué says.
The document emphasises the importance of democratic values, rule of law, domestic reforms and good neighbourly relations as vital to regional co-operation and Euro-Atlantic integration, said at the point for the Balkans.
“We are committed to NATO's continued commitment to the Western Balkans, including KFOR peacekeeping forces in Kosovo led by NATO”, the communique stresses.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Confirmed on Wednesday that other F-16-type aircraft sent from Denmark and the Netherlands have been launched to Ukraine.
In an interview Wednesday for FOX network radio NEWS, republic's candidate for president, Donald Trump, said he would not withdraw the United States from NATO while repeating calls for member states to spend more on defence.
I just want them to pay their dues. We are protecting Europe and they are taking advantage of this”, said Mr. Trump.
In the communique, it is called on China to cut off material and political support for Russia's combat efforts, while voicing concerns about China's space capabilities. The document spoke of the rapid expansion of the Chinese nuclear arsenal, urging Beijing to engage in strategic risk reduction talks. / VOA
