Mission NATO in Kosovo, KFOR, through a ceremony today marked June 12th, Freedom Day, at Camp <x0m City”, saying that today a quarter of a commitment and commitment to sustainable security throughout Kosovo and regional stability are marked.
KFOR Commander ãozkan Ulitaş said he is proud to be in charge of NATO's current largest mission, while he also honoured soldiers who lost their lives while serving on the mission.
It is a privilege to be here with all of you, as commander of the longest mission in our Alliance's history, and currently its greatest; KFOR represents NATO's tangible, long-term and steadfast commitment to security throughout Kosovo and regional stability, thanks to the daily dedication and professionalism of soldiers and its civilian personnel”, said Major General Ulitaş.
Allow me to honour their service and sacrifice and honor those who lost their lives serving this mission; without the engagement of hundreds of thousands of men and women who served in KFOR over the last 25 years, NATO could not have played such an important role in Kosovo and in the Western Balkans”, he added.
KFOR's “Role remains essential; I am honored to continue to share this journey with you and will spare no effort, along with thousands of women and men in uniform, from NATO allies and partners who are proud to command”, the KFOR commander stressed.
The ceremony was chaired by KFOR Commander Major General ãozkan Ul Ulutaş while attending President Vjosa Osmani-Sandriou, the chiefs of the European Union's Mission for Rule of Law (EULEX), the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSBE), and the Special Representative of the European Union, as well as by numerous ambassadors of KFOR and religious leaders.
KFOR said it continues to implement its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 to provide a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and freedom of movement at any time and impartially.
“KFOR is the third security reacter, behind Kosovo Police and EULEX, with whom we work in close co-ordination, respectively.
