The surrender of the motion was made after a series of meetings and commitments by Chairman of the Board of Besnik Boletini and General Director Shkumbin Ahmetxekaj with European management and public broadcasters.
In the letter delivered to the EBU on June 6th, General Director Shkumbin Ahmetxekaj points out that the request to receive an invitation from the Eurovision executive board is already applied by the EBU in the case of Australia.
With respect, we ask that you consider sending a RTK invitation to participate in the next Eurosong race. Our participation would not only be the distribution of Kosovo's talents, but would also empower the sweeping spirit and the cultural exchange representing Eurovision”, said the letter of director Ahmetxekaj. Next it is emphasized that the invitation to RTK would be based on European spirit.
“We strongly believe that the Eurovision Song Contest is a non-political event celebrating music, diversity and unity -- values that deeply coincide with our nation”- are said on paper.
Furthermore, director Ahmetxekaj recalls that EBU played a crucial role in the establishment of RTK in 1999, so he expects us to EBU will help us achieve this goal, which is embedded in our mission as public broadcaster
The fact that RTK has already started the Song Festival is also mentioned, and that this year the second edition will be held, in hopes that the winning song will represent Kosovo in this musical event.
The request is expected to be considered soon by the management of EBU and the Eurovision executive board.
