Eight people killed in Russian attacks in Ukrainian town

A Russian ballistic missile attack in the Ukrainian town of Krivi Rich killed at least eight people and injured at least 21 others, including children, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said.

He reported on Telegram on June 12th, the up-to-date number of victims, as he initially said six people had been killed.

He added that four other people are missing.

The attack damaged an administrative building and an apartment block, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Krivi Rich, a major city in the Dnjipropetrovsk region, which is home to President Voldymyr Zelensky, has been the target of air strikes several times during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which was launched on February 24th of 2022.

Zelensky responded by calling on Ukraine's allies to increase the shipments of sophisticated air defence batteries to avoid Russian attacks.

“Every day and every hour, Russian terror proves that Ukraine, along with its partners, should strengthen air defence”, Zelenskiy said.

He expressed condolences for the victims' families and friends and said emergency services were working at the scene until he published a video showing a man leaving the ruins.

In a previous statement in the telegram, Zelensky said Russia tried to launch a combined attack on Ukraine using rockets and fears.

He said five rockets and more than 20 fears were dropped.

Earlier on June 12th, the Associated Press reported that the United States would offer another missile system Patriot, in response to Ukraine's prayers for more air defense.

This will be the second Patriot antiaircraft the United States donated to Ukraine, even though the Pentagon has long given Kiev an undiscovered number of missiles for this antiaircraft system. /rel
