The Kosovo Football Federation has announced that it has filed an official complaint at UEFA following the US Serb fans' chauvinist calls at EURO 2024.
Kosovo Football Forum “announces opinion that it has officially reacted to U EFA due to the display of flags, slogans and calls of Serbian fans with political, chauvinist and racist messages against Kosovo, during the Serbia-KE match, in the framework of Euro-2024”, the NFF report said.
“The unhindered display of messages and such calls at a grand event like Euro-2024 is meaningless and absurd. Through such calls, the hate planted in public opinion in Serbia is evidenced against its neighbours. NFFK in complaint submitted with necessary evidence at U The EFA, has called for strict disciplinary measures against Serbia's Football Federation as a recivilist of such cases”.
The FFK has demanded that the organiser avoid showing such banners in other matches as such are violations.
“Calls against the state of Kosovo at a major event like Euro-2024 are motivation for nationalist groups and threaten security, even the region's fragile. The Kosovo Football Federation stands firm in the defence of football values and promotion of what UEFA represents: unity, inclusion and passion for the football game, but at the same time firmly protects the state's dignity, which has been created with great effort and sacrifice”.
“call U EFA's that people with behavior and philosophy of hatred against one people and another state have no place in football arenas. Football and events such as Euro-2024 should not serve chauvinists and racists to promote hate language”.
